Day 12 – Relationships

12January 18th – Relationships

Author: Lisa Iovine

Today’s Scripture Reading: 1 John 4

“Then the man and his wife heard the sound of the LORD God as he was walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and they hid from the LORD God among the trees of the garden. 9 But the LORD God called to the man, ‘Where are you?’” – Genesis 3:8-9

Relationships – it all started in the garden. He wanted them! He wants us! The Lord of all creation desires to walk with us, talk with us, and have intimacy with one another.

When God’s original design and sin collided His response was not abandonment.  Though Adam and Eve had rebelled, their Heavenly Father sought them out and asked “Where are you?”   Obviously it was a question He knew the answer to.  However, by asking it He gave Adam and Eve an opportunity to reestablish a relationship with Him.

Today, your Heavenly Father beckons, WHERE ARE YOU?  This brings us to the beautiful gift of prayer. God invites us to a relationship through prayer, simply put, communication with God. Through prayer we invite Him to expose what we are “hiding behind” or hiding from. He is not a God who plays hide and seek; His Word tells us “Seek Him and you will find Him.” (Jeremiah 29:11-13) So where are you? May you discover today that your heavenly father is seeking you and desires a relationship with you like no other.  The kingdom of God invites us to fellowship with Him and other believers, giving us those “right” relationships we so desperately need.

“If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone.” – Romans 12:18

Prayer Focus: Father may our gentleness be evident to all and may we make the most of every opportunity to magnify Jesus.
